Arizona State: The U.S. Conference Preview
Arizona State has been named to the first of the six-team NCAA Tournament tournament.
The Beavers are the defending champions of the Pac-12 Conference after upsetting No. 4 UCLA, 70-61, on Wednesday night in Tempe.
Arizona State (13-2, 5-2 Pac-10) is coming off a 62-59 victory over No. 1 Michigan State on Saturday, the first game the Sun Devils won in the league.
The Beavers had a season-high six turnovers, including four against Michigan State, and led by as many as 30 in the second half.
They scored 22 first-half points in the first half and trailed by as much as 23 before taking a 54-43 lead into halftime.
The loss drops Arizona State to 11-1 overall and 15-3 in conference play.
The Redbirds have won three of four games and two of three.
The last time the Beavers fell to Arizona State was in the 2014 season opener, which Arizona State won 71-54.
Arizona’s schedule will open with games against Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and UCLA, and then the Redbirds return home to play BYU on Jan. 3 and at Oregon State on Jan 24.
The final two games on the Pac 12 slate are against Arizona State, Washington State and Utah.
